A Gift to You

John 3:16
For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten son.
That whosoever believes in Him,
shall not perish but have everlasting life.

He Reigns!

God gave you a gift.
His Son's life to pay for your sins.
You have been ransomed.
Believe it. Accept it. Confess it.
Repent and be baptized.
Today is the day of salvation.

Won't you accept God's gift to you today?!

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God
is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord,
and believe in your heart that
God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.

Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future,
nor any powers, neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord

Another winning drawing!

After church tomorrow, we'll be going to a reception for winners of a local student art contest.  Yep, dd10 did it again.  I'll have to show you the cardinal she drew another time.  I think I forgot to take a picture of it before we turned it in!

It's so embarassing.....

It's really, really, REALLY embarrassing when a neighbor down the road calls you and asks about your flag, which is quite torn but still trying to fly.

We got a new flag for Christmas and just haven't gotten it on the pole yet.  (Which I immediately mentioned when he said he was calling about our flag...I think he was going to give us one to put up...maybe I should have told him about the folks up a road  a couple miles from here where there's a flag that's even worse than ours!  )

Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow?

Another flight in dd10's future.......

DD10 will be flown to Washington, DC in June for a reception for "the culmination of the Save Our Wild Salmon 2008 national road show.  The top pieces will be on display to show our nation’s leaders that America’s youth value protecting our wild salmon."

And for those who had been wondering about the on-line gallery showing the entries.......it is up!  Sorta.  It's supposed to show the 20 winning pieces, but it's only showing 19 at the moment.  DD10's is #13.

Anyway, go here to read about the contest.  This is where I found out that the top four winners will be flown to DC for the reception AND where I found out dd10 is one of those flying!  I had no idea before that!

Click here to see the top 20 winners (which at the moment is only showing 19).

Click here to see the artwork of the 284 who submitted but did not win.

The big 4-0!

So, I recently turned 40.  My SIL asked a couple months ago what I wanted to do.  I said NO PARTY!  Just a quiet dinner at Ponderosa with the family--immediately family.
Well, my birthday came in the midst of funerals, as my SIL's in-laws both passed away--just 10 days apart, with my birthday in the middle of them.  My husband's family has always included the families of both their children's spouses in family get togethers, so we were all a pretty close bunch.  One big extended family.

Anyway, my birthday came and dh said we'd go to Ponderosa for lunch.  Called his parents, but they had already eaten (yeah, right....little did I know!).  Went to lunch then on the way home, dh turned down to his parents.  I didn't think much of it--we're there a lot.  Even when I saw several cars, I just figured folks were bringing my SIL food or flowers for the loss of her MIL.  Even when I saw a dear friend and her family, I just figured she was bringing something for my SIL (my SIL, my friend, and I are all part of the same homeschool co-op, so it made sense.)

Then my husband said Happy Birthday!  Then I realized this was a party! A birthday party for me!  I totally had no clue before that point!  The house was full of friends and family and food!  It was a great time--so nice to see everyone.  I was blessed with many presents, but most of all I was blessed by seeing everyone.

Oh, and I found out later.....the invitation said nothing about a party.......it was an "Open House."    Guess, for my 50th, I'll have to specify......no party, no open house, no shindig, no celebration, no nothing.   With this family, I'm sure it will go in one ear and out the other.

Love and hugs to all my family and friends.  Thanks for making my 40th so very special!
